Plitvice Lakes belongs to one of the oldest and largest national parks located in Croatia. Also, In 1979, Plitvice Lakes National Park was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list.
The most notable characteristic are the sixteen lakes which are inter- connected by a series of waterfalls. The National Park covers a total area of 300 square km. Inside the park there is a very noticeable altitude difference, the highest point being at 1,280m and the lowest at 380m.
The lakes are also very recognizable for their distinctive colors, that range from green, grey to blue. The colors change constantly depending on the quantity of minerals in the water as well as the angle of sunlight.
There are various activities to be done inside the park.
